As telephone services became more widespread in the 1920s, telegraph services were still useful for sending long-distance messages, eventually incorporating automatic teletypewriters and a money order service. Western Union Telegraph Co., who built this Art Deco, 6-story building in 1929, was the largest provider of telegraphic services in the U.S. The new building, site acquisition, and equipment cost about $ 1 million.

The building continued to function as an office building and Western Union location for years before shutting down. In 1996, St Andrew’s Episcopal Church purchased it and now uses it for parish offices and functions.
