Records on the Tampa Gas Company factory building on 1300 Lozano Avenue are scarce. It was built in 1914, as the crown on the building reads, as a storage warehouse. The company paid $12,000 to construct the brick and stucco structure. According to the Sanborn Fire Maps, the building was between the Hillsborough River and Lozano Street at the northwest corner of Cuba Street, one block north of the Madame Fortune Taylor Bridge (now the Laurel Street Bridge). Pipes for the installation of gas lines are visible in the storage yard.
All structures have been removed from the river's shores along this stretch, and green spaces and the Tamp River Walk have been added. The closest structure to where the Tampa Gas Company building once stood is the One Laurel Place Condominium at the northwest corner of W Laurel Street and Doyle Carlton Drive. Both Lozano and Cuba streets have since been eliminated.
