Lyle and Gertrude Guinn opened their Guinn Motel in 1955 at 3666 Gandy Blvd. It was later sold to Bob and Madelyn Geasland. It was one block east of the Howard Johnson’s Restaurant by Dale Mabry and Gandy. This photo is a postcard. The back of it reads, “All rooms Air-Conditioned. Free Television. Radiant Heat. Kitchenettes and overnight rooms. Daily and weekly rates. Shopping  center across the street.” By 1984, the motel had closed and was selling its few assets, torn linens, for example, in the classified ads of the Tampa Tribune.

It then became the Sunshine Motel. In 1992, owners listed the 12-unit place for sale for $300k. The building was demolished in 2018, and in 2019, a Wawa Gas Station was built on the land.
